Joshua & Lisam - Salvation Army Church Holland, MI

One of my favorite things about weddings is that each couple brings their own creativity and perspective to the day. Joshua and Lisam celebrated their wedding at the Salvation Army Church in Holland. They spent the night before the wedding decorating the church and reception area with flowers and twinkling lights. The grooms father, during his speech, spoke about how it brought tears to his eyes to see them working together to bring their vision of their day to life. He spoke of how she brings out a side to Joshua that they had never see. When you see the tears rolling down Joshua's cheeks as Lisam walked down the aisle, with her mother, you know it's true. They are better together.

The day perfectly reflected two cultures. Lisam immigrated from Bangladesh with her family and chose to wear a sari a traditional dress. They celebrated with a traditional christian ceremony and worship. Following the ceremony, when she was officially a married woman she, with the help of Josh painted the top of her head red, this represents honor, love, and prosperity, a common practice in her culture.

Guests enjoyed a Polaroid photo booth and book that they could place their pictures in write a message to the couple. Lisam and Josh started their Reception with their first dance and speeches. Dinner was again a nod to culture serving both Olive Garden & Indian food. All the guest seem to enjoy the foods and multiple people tried foods they had never had before. It was wonderful to capture the day and witness their love.
