Drew & Greta - The Revel Center Grand Rapids, MI
I am a true believe that your wedding day can look and feel however you imagine, including your photographs. When I was approached to photograph Drew and Greta's wedding they requested that we limit the amount of posed photos and instead focus on true candid images. I think, I achieved the objective and we spent very little time "taking pictures", but still created an album that tells the story of their wedding day. They spent their wedding with each other, their guests, and enjoyed the day without much interference from me. Sometimes it's refreshing to just let the day unfold as it happens.
What you include in your ceremony is a great way to customize your day by honoring a tradition or creating something that is unique to you as a couple. For Drew and Greta they featured beautiful traditions including getting married under a chuppah and breaking of a glass at the end of their ceremony. If you have ever wondered why couples break a glass like most traditions it holds multiple meanings. Some say it represents the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem. Others say it demonstrates that marriage holds sorrow as well as joy and is a representation of the commitment to stand by one another even in hard times. Drew and Greta's officiant explained that marriage changes individuals forever and much like a broken glass your past life is gone forever and can't be put back exactly how it was. Much like a broken glass can't be put back exactly as it was once shattered.
The flower men were also a huge crowd pleaser and had the guests laughing. Don't get me wrong there is nothing cuter than a 3-5 year old tossing petals, but these guys were great and did an awesome job.
Congratulations to Greta and Drew!
